Specialists from the American space agency NASA, together with researchers from Toho University in Japan, have made a disappointing forecast regarding the future of the planet. The Daily Star news portal provides details.
Scientists have calculated that our biosphere has "only" a little over a billion years left. Using complex climate and geochemical models, researchers' supercomputers have predicted the outcome of all life on Earth.
As the Daily Star pointed out, the current oxygen atmosphere is only temporary in geological terms. Scientists believe that in the future, the gas needed by most living things will gradually disappear, leading to mass extinction.
Unfortunately, this is far from the only pessimistic forecast of Western researchers. Earlier, Dutch scientists described the scenario of the "evaporation" of the Universe in accordance with the conclusions of Stephen Hawking and even named the "date" of the sad outcome.
